album of the year

There’s been lots of great albums out this year, don’t believe me? Then  click on these links to find out more about the brilliant albums by Puss’n’ Boots, Hannah Cohen, Sun Kil Moon, Hiss Golden Messenger, Sleater-Kinney, Sufjan Stevens and Jim O’Rouke, but I’m delighted to announce my personal favourite ….

Belle and Sebastian “Girls in peacetime want to dance”. I first heard B+S back in school, and it was the same time I got into JD Salinger and Jack Kerouac, and I was so happy to find a bookish band that actually namechecked authors I liked! I then met my amazing wife on a belle and Sebastian fanclub online, but over the last few years they didn’t seem to release anything that interesting. Until this one. It’s classic belle and Sebastian, soothing, upbeat, but always a dash of hopelessness and melancholy that always made them so intoxicating. Here’s a few videos to check out if you’ve not heard this wonderful record yet.
